Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Georgia

Gifts

What is considered a legal gift? If someone gives you something, and it is something that does not carry a deed, title, or any form of legal ownership, does the person giving it telling several people by word of mouth constitute it as a legal gift?? I have something given to me by a person that is now deceased, under the description listed above, if nothing was written on paper, but was told to several people by the giver, is that a legal gift??

Re: Gifts

If the giver has given up control over the property it is a completed gift. They can not have retained any possession or control over the property
