If an individual has a life estate for a home and property and is currently in the nursing home, can someone else occupy the home without her consent or her being there herself?

If one has a life estate in real property, one has full possession of the property during his or her life. The life estate holder can rent the property to another, can remove someone on the property without permission, allow the property to remain vacant, etc.
