Re: Money decesed had in bank

The most important pieces of information are missing so you can't really get a full answer: (1) Is the bank in Georgia, (2) Was your father a resident of Georgia (3) How much is in the account.

Although you say you are the only heir you haven't said how you are related or who else might be an heir.

The answer would also be affected by if he has any unpaid debts.

Depending on those replies, you might be able to do a "No Administration Necessary" (a sort of short cut probate) or you might be able to administer the estate. With small amounts, in some cases you might be able to claim the funds without a proceeding.

In other words, I need more information than you gave. There should be a way to get the funds. The facts will dictate how.

You should consult with a local attorney. I would need more facts than you have given in order to give you a reliable answer.
