Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Georgia

Neighbor passes with will

My neighbor and friend's life partner ( never married but presented as wife) passed in 2002. The neighbor put his home in her name when he went into business for protection. At her death her will named him and a granddaughter from a previous marriage on the house. Since this time she has not helped him in any way or made much contact. My husband and myself have taken care of him for the past four years . He passed away recently and I have found that he named me as Executrix of his will, without my knowledge and my husband if I cannot perform this duty. He has left to me the entire estate both real and personal in trust for any pets that he owns at his death and at the death of the last pet that the rest residue and remainder of his estate to me.

He recongnizes the granddaughter as a person that lived with them for many years and that she was never adopted by him. Due to the circumstances that transpired during his last lifetime it is his desire to leave her nothing under this will.

What has he done to me in all this?

He has many debts and little money

that I have helped him set up payments on that are on going.

What are the rights or myself and the granddaughter?

Re: Neighbor passes with will

The facts you state, some of which are relevant and some not, require more than you can get here. We obviously cannot see the will. See a lawyer who does trusts and estates in your county. One option to discuss is declining the appointment.
