Probate
How long after death do you have to probate a will?

Re: Probate
There is no time limit, and sometimes wills are probated many years after death. However, it is very important to act promptly. Delay almost always complicates probate and increases costs. (There is a requirement, often ignored, to FILE a will one has within one year, but there is no penalty for not doing so).

More information is required to answer your question. If you are an executor, you do have a duty to perform your tasks efficiently and according to the desires of the deceased. If you have questions about what that entails, you need to seek the guidance of an attorney to make sure that you will not be liable to beneficiaries or creditors for substandard performance.
