Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Georgia

Request to view life insurance policy

I have been appointed Administrator of my father's estate. Since our family was unable to locate his copy of his life insurance policy, I have to totally rely on the life insurance company to supply me with information. Do I have a right as the administrator to request a copy of his policy, particularly the forms where my father changed the designated beneficiaries? The insurance policy states that a person can designate 100% of his/her policy to beneficiary(ies) or cannot designate any amount al all. If this is the case, I do not believe all of the beneficiares have been notified because so far only 30% of the policy has been accounted for. Only 1 family member resides at the same address when the change was made in 1992. There is no feuding in this family. I need to know this information so that the family can know exactly how much money will be received for funeral expenses. Otherwise alternate payment arrangements will need to be made.

Any response we give is subject to the TERMS on our webpage.

As administrator you stand in the shoes of the deceased. Anything he could have requested from the LI Company, so can you. Usually, if you provide them with a certified copy of the Letters (or Court Order) appointing you as Admin., they will give you any document you request.
