Can a minor child's settlement money be used to improve the residence of the child? The child (age 14) wants to turn a screened-in porch into a recreation room.

Re: settlement

Yes, but you have to get Probate Court permission first. Since there is "settlement money," I presume there is a guardian of the minor's property who has been appointed by the Probate Court. You would be well advised to seek the advice of a local attorney who is familiar with the local Probate Court's view on these matters.
