Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Georgia
State goverment lien.
My Mother developed Alzheimer's and did not have a will and it progressed to quckly to get one and there was also no executive of estate assigned. The state put a lien on the house due to nursing home expenses. Medicare did not cover expense. My husband left me and my kids a couple of months ago and I am the only provider at this time. I currently have 2 childern on medicare and do not have the money to pay for a Lawer at this time. I have raised my children in my mother's house since she was put into the nursing home. I am fear of losing the house and being homeless with my kids. What do I need to do to stop this lien?

You have quite a mess on your hands. You REALLY need a lawyer. Contact your nearest Legal Aid office.

If the facts are as you posted them (and assuming you didnt leave other things out), you can do nothing. Creditors come ahead of family in probate and there are special rules for Medicare/Medicaid.
The way to have dealt with this was proper estate planning when your mother was young. You can't fix her poor choice in not planning.
I would suggest that you focus on the question you didn't ask - pursuing child support from your husband.
