Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Georgia
Uncontacted Heir
Four days ago a woman contacted relatives of our family and allegedly said that a cousin who has visited my mother anually has passed away. This lady was in search of my mother and was given her contact information. Supposedly the cousin left my mother a portion and possibly all of her estate. The relative owned significant properties in California and some in Georgia. My mother has not been contacted. Should she simply wait to be contacted? Or is there some action she should be taking? The cousin had no spoouse or children, however she had brothers and sisters. We have no contact information for the lady. Also, she died in Georgia although she had been a longtime resident of CA.

Re: Uncontacted Heir
It would appear that you have a factual investigation on your hands rather than the need for a legal analysis. You need to find the cousin's residence and the lady who called you - or hire someone to do it.
