What to do when no willis found.

A mother of 4 adult sons was murdered. So far no will has been found, there is property involved. The sons cannot find any payment books, insurance papers, etc. They have been told everything must gothrough probate first. Can anyone give any advice on what are some steps they can take that will help them know what direction to go? If there is a will, would an attorney contact them or do they need to call one? They are at a loss and in the midst of grieving, what should they do first?

You should have a lawyer whether or not a will is found. If there is a will, the term is "probate". If there is no will, the proper term is "administer". Both are complicated.
