Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Georgia

Wills

I would like to add a codicil to my will stating exactly how I want my funeral handled. Is this legal and/or binding in the state of Georgia

Re: Wills

That's a very bad idea for two reasons:

(1) Never ever use a codicil. A codicil complicates probate by meaning that two documents rather than one need to be probated, and reconciled. At the least, it adds some expense. Always do a new will to make changes.

(2) Funeral instructions in a will are not binding. In fact, usually no one looks at the will until after the funeral. Your wil deals with assets, but your body belongs to your next of kin, and they decide funeral arrangements.
