Re: contaminted needle stick

This incident would be covered under workers' compensation law, since the injury arose out of and in the course of your employment. It is difficult, however, to explain all of your rights under Georgia law on this information alone.

Your employer would be responsible for the testing that you may need to undergo in order to determine whether you contracted any disease/infection from the needle prick. You should not incur any out-of-pocket medical expenses related to this incident. If it is found that you did contract some type of infection (and let's pray that the testing finds no problems), your employer should be responsible for your medical treatment related to the problem, and for paying disability benefits if you should have to remain out of work for a period of time. You may have additional rights as well, but I would need to know the full details of your case in order to address additional rights.

Feel free to contact me at [email protected] if I can offer any additional help.
