I was just diagnosed 2 days ago with Hepatitis C and am being sent to a specialist today. I have not done anything which would consider me at risk accept for my job. Could I receive Workers Comp for this? I have been told that I will have to undergo medical treatment similiar to chemotherapy and could possibly be out of work for up to a year.

Re: Hepatitis C

You could receive workers' compensation benefits for this, if you could satisfy the burden of proving that the hepatitis exposure occurred in the course of your employment. These types of cases are sometimes difficult to prove, but not impossible. If you believe that the exposure must have occurred through work, you will want to talk to a lawyer who handles workers' compensation claims because you will most likely need help in handling this type of claim.
