Legal Question in Workers Comp in Georgia

Mediation for settlement before MMI

I need to try and find out how much my surgery for repair of Ulnar nerve entrapment and Brachial Plexus Injury Surgery is going to cost me. My Mediation for settlement was filed by both my previous employer and my attorney on 08/22/07. The original demand letter was for 60,000 and I still have to pay my attorneys 25% out of that amount. My attorneys keep saying that should be more than enough for me to have my surgeries. I say there is know way. I am also a nurse. I was injured by a patient assault. My hospital controverted the claim which occurred 06/18/06. Now, after the doctor, which WC sent me to, is saying the only way I could have obtained these injuries was secondary to the assault on 06/06, (and after I gave the hospital a deposition) the hospital is finally agreeing to go to mediation to settle. I worked for this hospital for 23 years. I cannot believe they are doing this to me. I am now afraid I will not have enough money to get my surgery, rehab, time off work to recover, and medications etc... Is there anyway I can find out how much hospitals charge for surgeries. This is a Georgia Workers Compensation. Also, I now have developed fluid on my elbow but I cannot afford to have it drained...!

You might want to try calling specialty surgical practices to determine what their fees are. Perhaps they will give you a minium and maximum range for the procedure.
