Legal Question in Workers Comp in Georgia
Problems with Insurance Company
My injury date was 9/16/04. To date none of my medical payments have been paid. My Dr.'s office contacted me and informed me of this 6/20/05. I have had 2 collection agencies contact me about seperate bills concerning my knee surgury, which I refered to the Insurance Company. My final Dr. visit was 7/1/05, where I was considered MMI, however my knee does not straighten out as far as my other leg and I have no feeling on the outside of my knee. I also have no feeling on a small part of the front of my knee. The insurance company also did not pay me until after6 weeks, which caused severe hardship on my family.
I have 5 permanant surgical scars, 3 associated with a scope and drainage tube as well as a 5'' scar down the middle of my knee.

Re: Problems with Insurance Company
Unfortunately you will not be able to collect workers compensation benefits solely because your injury has been a hardship and because you have been left with permanent scars. However, you may be entitled to benefits if your doctor determines that you have a permanent impairment as a result of the injury. Also, your medical bills should be covered 100%. If the carrier is not paying the bills in a timely manner, they will be responsible for late payment penalties to the medical provider. I suggest that you consult with an attorney to determine what further benefits you are entitled to and for further assistance with the unpaid medical bills. I would be happy to assist you in any way that I can.
