Legal Question in Workers Comp in Georgia

settlements for a injury on workers comp

I had to have ACL reconstruction due to a fall at work. Other clients of the Physical theraphy office have said that I would get some type of settlement at the end of my treatment. I was wondering if this is true?

It is impossible to address your question based on the information that you provided; however, unless the clients at the physical therapy office are workers compensation attorneys, they probably might not be providing accurate information to you. If you believe that you need legal representation for your claim, then you need to discuss it with an attorney. Call me if you wish to know what that entails.

Many claims do eventually settle; however, there is no "right" to a settlement in a workers' compensation case. Settlement is completely voluntary and depends a great deal on the specific facts of your case (i.e. entitlement to future benefits; disability rating; rate of benefits; need for future medical care; etc.). Settlements are also negotiated between both parties so do not assume that an insurer's offer is all your case is worth. Good luck.
