workers comp doctor referral
when a patient goes to an occupation doctor with an injury and the occupation doctor after receiving authorization to be treated by them then occupation doctor referrs the patient to go to a specialist, does the specialist have to get authorization before treating the patient?

Pursuant to the Workers' Compensation Act, the specialist does not have to get authorization before treating the patient. However, most physicians will not treat a workers' compensation patient without pre-authorization even though it is not required by law.
