Legal Question in Workers Comp in Georgia

Wrist numbness and inability to wright long sentences for school

I work at McDonalds around 30 or 31 hours per week and go to school full time. They have put me on the grill and for the last month or so the pain my wrist has gotten worse and worse. It is anoying if I stay off the grill but from the looks of the scedule I will be on it 5 or so hours the days I work. I had a psy. test this week and was almost unable to finish the discussion questions because my whole hand was tingly and I couldnt hold the pen. Also at night I wake up several times in excruciating pain. I have to eat and drive left handed most of the time now and an haveing trouble keeping up in school because typeing is painfull as well. I am going to the boss today to see if she will take me off the grill if not what should I do

The most important thing is to report your wrist problems to a supervisor so that your complaints are documented. Tell your supervisor that the problems are aggravated when you work the grill position. Additionally, I would request medical treatment (through workers' compensation, not health insurance). The sooner you address the problem, the sooner you may be able to resolve it if it is carpal tunnel syndrome. If you continue to have problems with your wrists and/or your employer refuses to provide you a list of doctors, you should consult with an attorney. Good luck.

It is not clear in your facts if you already had the pain prior to going to the grill, or even prior to going to work for McDonalds. The symptoms sound like symptoms of repetitive motion problems, and that the grill work aggravates them if not causes them in the first place. You should report this to your supervisor and ask to see a doctor. There should be a panel of physicians posted and if there is a neurologist listed you should select him because his medical discipline is best suited to deal with what sounds like carpal tunnel syndrome.
