Re: deferred
A deferred acceptance of this type is usually accompanied by a term of probation. Upon successful completion of probation, the case is dismissed and the defendant has no conviction. Unsuccessful completion [violation of probation] means the guilty plea will then be accepted, and the defendant will then have a felony conviction. A term of incarceration is usually imposed under such circumstances.
