Legal Question in Family Law in Guam

Support

My ex-wife and I reside in KS. (children also) In 1999 we got a divorce in Guam and I pay child support based on the income made in Guam. She has re-married, I have not. We both make different incomes now, mine lower, hers much higher. I want to move (motion) the Guam courts to move our case or decree to KS. so that I may see about lowering my support. Can I do this on my own without obtaining a lawyer? What is my course of action if I can?

Re: Support

I suggest you see an attorney in Kansas. Have the Guam decree filed there and make a motion to modify it and to have Kansas assert jurisdiction at the same time. Since the kids and both parties no longer live on Guam, Kansas should be able to take jurisdiction. If the court in Kansas does hear the case, you should file the order in the Guam court case by mailing a certified copy of it to the Superior Court of Guam.
