Legal Question in Business Law in Hawaii
LLC or Corporation?
My husband and I are teachers and
we are starting an online school. We
would like to know if we should be a
LLC or corporation, if corporation
which type? We are in the state of
HI with students nationwide. We
plan to eventually expand and hire
other teachers part time in years to
come.

Re: LLC or Corporation?
LLC is the best form of entity for a business start. However, I would check with State of Hawaii, Office of Consumer Protection, Dept. of Commerce and Consumer Affairs re: the requirements for opening an online school in Hawaii. Hawaii is very strict and the above office is very aggressive re: international students/schools and will try their best to shut you down.
