Legal Question in Business Law in Hawaii
Validity of verbal contract
With a verbal agreement only, I was asked to go into business with a friend as a partner. He needed my knowledge and he had the money. Soon after opening, he says I'm out. Did I just set him up in business or what can be enforced in regards to my share of the company?

Re: Validity of verbal contract
Did you file your partnership with Director of Commerce and Consumer Affairs before starting to do business in Hawaii? Has the Partnership been operating for over 30 days? Under Hawaii Revised Statutes 425-109 a partnership was formed. Whether or not the courts are obligated to grant you relief is a different story. However, there are many factors to consider in order to determine whether or not you have a claim to any profits of the Partnership. Especially since you have no operating agreement defining terms and the undertaking life of the Partnership. Feel free to call me at 808-526-0892 and give me the entire scenario so that I can determine whether or not you have a cause of action.
