Legal Question in Consumer Law in Hawaii
Hotel room property damage fees excessive
A lighter malfunction (failed to self extinguish after use) damaged hotel bedding and dime size hole to foam matress before I could put it out. Am I liable for all replacement costs including an entirely new bed? Hotel is demanding $700.00; granted none was new nor flame retardant but certainly matress ($350.00) was not distroyed, is still useable and damage not visable. Is replacement cost of the bed or bedding negotiable? Any advice or guidance on how to proceed would be much appreciated.
