Legal Question in Criminal Law in Hawaii

Disorderly Conduct Charge?

My brother recieved a noise complaint at our house and the subsequent follow up by the police resulted in myself and him getting a ticket for disorderly conduct. Was it correct for the officers to charge me with the disorderly conduct if I had no involvement in the matter and was just in my room during the entire time?

Background information: Me and my brother live in the house along 3 others. The house is under my parents name so me and my brothers are the main residents. Our ages are 19 and 20 if it is relevant to the matter.

If this was correct, what options do we have to keep this off our records so that it would not affect our future?

Re: Disorderly Conduct Charge?

Depending on the statutory citation, Your charge is either a violation punishable by fine only or a petty misdemeanor punishable by up to 30 days in jail. I would have to look at your citation to determine this. You can possibly be convicted as a renter, resident who knowingly or negligently consents to unreasonable noise on the preises or for failing to heed an officer's warning to reduce or stop the loud noise.
