Legal Question in Criminal Law in Hawaii
if you request and are given community service but no longer have the time to complete it, is it possible to pay the fine that you would have gotten instead?

If the matter is at the District Court level, most Judges WILL allow conversion from community service to a monetary fine. If the matter requires community service, ie. excessive speeding, the Judge will be unable to convert to a fine.
