Legal Question in Family Law in Hawaii
Back child support
I have reviewed the court minutes from my son's child support hearing and it was stated that I did not request back child support. How can I correct this issue. It was my expectation that the father would be responsible from the date the request for support was issued. Is it too late to have the order amended to reflect my desire to receive back support?

Re: Back child support
No, such back ordered support is not automatic, unless specifically requested by the plaintiff from the date of the petition filing(which suggests that you didn't have an attorney representing you). You'll now need to file a motion to amend this order to include retroactive support to the date when your petition first became pending.
