Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Hawaii
Broken Engagement
Can you sue your fiance for expenses when a wedding is cancelled? They were engaged in Hawaii in December, they were to be married (location unspecified) in October, 2001. They are both legal residents of Georgia. The engagement was broken in Feb, 2001. Can she sue him for the cost of the dress and deposit on the hall? He is in the Army and she is interested in having his wages garnished for breech of verbal contract. Is this possible?

Re: Broken Engagement
Well technically "yes," but why would she want to? She should consider this one of lifes more inexpensive lessons. She lost only the "cost of the dress and the deposit on the hall." Perhaps she consider how "expensive" it would be or become, if he had, if fact, married her. HCW
