Legal Question in Workers Comp in Hawaii

Closing Medical Benefits

I injured my knee in 1996 and endured two surgeries which I settled in 2000. Upon returning to work, in 2000 I injured my right shoulder and have been out from work since March 2000. I am currently recovering from my second surgery to the shoulder and re-training for a different position. I would like to close the medical portion of my knee injury, because it is probable that I will not be returing to work with my current employer after my surgeries are complete and vocational training is complete. The attorney that handled my knee case is very shady! Do I need an attorney to close the medical portion?

Re: Closing Medical Benefits

Normally, closing the medical portion of your industrial injury claim requires the employer/insurance carrier offering this to you. If this is the case, I recommend you consult with an attorney to review the appropriate documents. It shouldn't take more than 2-3 hours of attorney's time.
