Legal Question in Disability Law in Idaho
Wheelchair accessability to school.
I have two junior high schools in my town. One is equipped with an elevator and one is not. The school my son should attend is not accessible and the district wants to send him to the other school where he knows no one. I was under the impression that all state and federal buildings had to be fully accessible. The district tells me that because of ''open enrollment'' and funding they do not have to make the closer, better school accessible. Can you please tell me if I can persue this or is it a lost cause? I would also like to know if the option of them moving classrooms is a feasable compromise for them to accomodate my son.

Re: Wheelchair accessability to school.
One of the main questions is is it a "reasonable" accommodation for them to move your son across town. I think you can safely argue it is NOT. They can put all his classes on the bottom floor, they can install a chair-lift, they can do other things to make sure that he has access. You should get together with local disability rights advocates and explore what has been done in your state, before consenting to this solution.
