Taping phone calls
Is it illegal to tape a phone conversation without first informing the person that the conversation is being recorded?

Generally yes it is! However, Idaho Code Section 18-6702.2(d) states it is lawful so long as one of the parties to the conversation has given his/her prior consent to the interception. In other words, so long as you consent to the interception or taping, it is lawful and you can use the tape in court in necessary. Check the entire statute for other particulars.
