What is alfred plea and how does it work.

North Carolina v. Alford, US supreme Court, is where we get Alford pleas. They rule that you can accept a plea agreement without agreeing you committed an unlawful act. Instead of making a plea statement, what it is you did that makes you guily of the crime, you recite instead that you have reviewed the evidence against you and agree that a jury will convict so you are accepting a plea bargain instead. In terms of criminal history, record and sentencing, there is no difference between a regular plea of guilty and an Alford plea.
