Talk to your attorney first and see what he/she says about this. If you don't have an attorney, I'd say yes do include a statement in the PSI and have someone else review it to see if it makes sense. A statement in the PSI is a good chance to sit down and compose a logical, heartfelt, version of the facts and you might include a statement on why you were so stupid to do what you did, what you are going to do to try to make yourself a better citizen and stay out of trouble, and why you feel you should be given a less strict sentence. the PSI investigator may give you some restrictions however, in what you can include in your statement.
