Legal Question in Education Law in Idaho

School may file bankruptcy

I paid $2,500.00 entry fee to a private esthetics school in Idaho, along with 9 other people. They kept putting off the starting date, making excuses such as looking for another instructor. The owner called me last Wed. to inform me that she may file bankruptcy, and that there is no money to pay back. What can I do besides hire an attorney which will end up costing more money. It was found out that she has an ''Assurity Bond'', will that help us? I saved forever to be able to go to this school, and I am just sick about this, as I am sure the others are. Please advise.

Since you don't want to hire an attorney, consider small claims court. Your local Court Assistances Office, located at your county courhouse, can provide you with the necessary forms and walk you through the process.

Remember, she only has said that she has no money, and that she "may" file bankruptcy. People lie.

As to the assurity bond, it depends on what events trigger payment and to whom
