Legal Question in Family Law in Idaho
Boyfriend won't get a job
I have been living with this man for 18 years. We are not married. We have always split the living expenses in half Rent, utilitys, grocerys etc. In the last 3 years he has worked maybe 6 months leaving him with no money to help pay the bills. Everything is in my name and I want to keep my good credit. Also must have a roof over my head, power, and water etc. So as the bills come in I pay them. I have kept all the receipts and a record of what his half is owing me aroung $6,000.00. He has grown very lazy and won't even help around the house. Lays on the couch and watches tv and sleeps. I have talked and talked with him about getting off his ass and help with the bills and the house. I am ready to kick him to the curb. Grown very tired of taking care of this lazy person. My question is can I take him to court and sue him for the money he owes me. Several months ago he did sign a promisery note stating he would pay me the money owed. Since the note more money owing has accumulated and he won't sign another one. Like I said earlier I do have all receipts with a log of his half

Re: Boyfriend won't get a job
If you have lived with this Bozo for 18 yrs in ID, you are common law married, if you have been living as married persons prior to Jan 1, 1996, having assumed the obligations and duties of married persons, you can file for divorce and get the court to order him to pay child support and half the expenses and debts of the marriage. You can sue on the promissory note at any time as well. I'd do both things. My teleph # is 208-345-3817
