I am not familiar with Idaho law, but it shouldn't be all that difficult. First question though--are you underage? If so, I believe you will have to get permission from a guardian.
Otherwise in Ohio it's a relatively easy procedure which involves obtaining the forms from the Probate court (the friendly clerk are usually very obliging in helping people fill out the forms). You may have to send notice to certain people. After that the court may want to interview you (the main concern is people changing names to defraud creditors). The best advice is to check with the local court about how it is done.
Re: Name Change.
At common law, you can change your name without a court order merely by using a
different name. The use of the new name must be consistent and not for fraudulent
purposes. Just as women don't get a court order to change name when getting
married, you probably don't need a court order to change it. However, you should
check with a local attorney to make certain that the common law applies in your state.
