Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Idaho

Sale of personal property, travel trailer

I sold my travel trailer to a man who gave me $1000.00 as down payment. He said he would be back in a week to give me the balance of $900.00 and pick up the trailer. I gave him a simple reciept for the down payment. It only showed the balance remaining. Two days later he left a note on my doorstep saying he decided not to buy it and wanted his money back. He left no address or phone no. as to how to get in touch with him. A few days later he left another note with his address on it demanding his money back. I mailed him a check for $975.00. The $25.00 deducted to cover the cost of running an ad again. Am I justified in keeping the $25.00? Also could I have forced him to go ahead

and purchase the trailer?

Thank you.

Re: Sale of personal property, travel trailer

yes. even tho it was oral, oral contracts are as binding as written ones. The difference between them is that the oral ones are more difficult to prove in court
