Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Idaho

I have several old VHS movies that are out of print and have been coped to DVDR for personal family use (i no longer have a working VHS player. i got the recorder from sams club 8 or 9 years ago that was made for that uses. ) now that my kids have grown out of there old cartoons and some of the movies have come out on DVD so i would rather go buy the real DVD and sell my old worn out VHS taps that i cant use any more, so what do i do with the DVDR's? do they have to stay with the VHS that they where copied from, or what?

As a Franchise Attorney I can say this. When you made the DVD-R copies, you technically infringed on the copyrights. Don't complicate matters by distributing them to anyone else as part of a sale. Consult with a good business or franchise attorney in your area for specific advice.
