Legal Question in Employment Law in Idaho

Can employers post employee pictures on the internet?

My company has started to post employee photographs on our web site. I consider myself an attractive woman and I am uncomfortable with having not only my picture on the internet, but my email address, first and last name, where I work and the town I live in is also listed. Am I wrong to be concerned and do I have any rights in requesting that they don't post my picture? When I voiced my concerns, my employer laughed.

Re: Can employers post employee pictures on the internet?

The internet is a huge place and the chances that someone will fnd your particular picture is fairly remote. However, your concerns are valid, because you have a right to privacy that the employer should not violate. An agreement to work is not a waiver of the right to control where and when your likeness is used. You have to weigh your concerns realisticaly against the needs of your employer. It would be difficult to argue against such a move in today's age if, for example, you work in public relations.
