Legal Question in Employment Law in Idaho

Relocation Contract

Hello,

Here is my situation. I accepted a position with a company and signed an agreement to pay back all relocation expenses if I left before two years. I took the job for one particular city and shortly after starting found out I would be working in another city 25 miles away from my current job site. I only give this information in hopes it may be a loop hole. Now to the real issue. The company is currently going through a restructoring, has currenlty let go of 1000 plus employees. Is currently working with a third party company to determine which jobs will be outsourced and/or off-shored. During this whole process we are expected to come to work BAU, knowing that with in the next month or two we could be next. I recently approached by another company and offered a very attractive position. Is it possible to get out of my relocation contract? It's in the ball park of 30k. If not, would it be possible to work out some sort of payback?

Thank you.

Re: Relocation Contract

I would need to review the agreement to advise. THere is a chance that your contract could become voidable through the doctrine of impossibility.

Call or email for assistance.
