Monetary donations

I work at a private school where we receive memorial donations in honor of a loved one that passed away. We send an acknowledgement to the family showing that someone donated but we do not include the amount. We were recently asked by a family to disclose the amount of each donation. Is there any law or laws regulating this.

You are probably safest having a policy to not discuss amounts and allowing donors to remain anonymous. Privacy is a big issue these days.
