Legal Question in Traffic Law in Idaho

Auto towed by County Police after State Police gave permission to leave it for 2

My ex-husband wrecked my auto. The State Police officer said I had 24 hours to retrieve the car, but within an hour or two the County Police had it towed. I am now faced with a towing bill I refused to pay, because I felt it unfair. The cost of the towing bill was about $240 and within 2 years has grown to about $960 with added interest. It is wrecking my credit rating. Any suggestions?

I'd call the state police officer that told you you had 24 hours and ask him if he can call the Sheriff and set it straight, since you followed his advise.

If that doesn't work, Call the Sheriff, probably the civil division and tell them you will file bankruptcy if they don't get reasonable and see if that makes them more reasonable.

Otherwise, if you can get them to reduce the amount owed to a reasonable amount, you'll probably have to pay the fee to get your car back
