Probate

As a distributee of a last will and testament, aren't I entitled to receive a copy of the will in its entirety?

Re: Probate

The word you are looking for is beneficiary.

The will 'speaks as of date of the decedent's death' and is published as part of the opening of probate.

The entire will is in the probate file at the superior court where the probate is being administered.

You can call the clerk, or possibly look it up on line depending on what county.

You can take a copy of the death certificate to the clerk's office and locate the file and have the will copied for your records.

If somebody is trying to pull a fast one on you, you will know. As to your entitlement - eh. Just go get a copy from the court, and don't worry about whether somebody disrespected you, it will not really buy you any sympathy from a court (absent egregious circumstances).

A published will is public record.

Hope this helps. Elizabeth Powell
