retail theft
my24 yr old son got caught stealing twice-2 court dates-2 botlles of liquor-he was--name removed--drug abuser at the time- he needs--name removed--lawyer....if he gets charged on the first, will the seond be jail time? fines??

It is not likely that two arrests will lead to jail time. Was he charged under the local laws or Illinois criminal code? There is long list of alternatives that can be used in place of a conviction or county jail time. Will be happy to provide additional information via email or telephone.

I do not believe that you should worry too much about your son going to jail, although it is possible. The answer depends upon a number of things and your post does not really give us enough information to give you any specific advice. Where was your son charged? What law is he charged with violating? Where does he have to appear in Court? Does he have any criminal history? What are the specific facts of each incident? Is he in any type of treatment program for his problem?
