Legal Question in Disability Law in Illinois

I live in a condo and my mother is handicapped...we park in a handicap space, and my car leaks a tiny bit of oil. The condo association called and asked me to park out in the street until the car is repaired due to the lot being freshly sealcoated. The street parking is approx. 100 feet away from the entrance to the building, whereas the handicap parking spot is approx. 10 feet away. Is this legal? Can I be forced to park elsewhere and also be forced to have my vehicle repaired while I am unemployed? Thank you!

If you have a valid handicapped placard for the vehicle, I doubt they could prohibit you from using the parking space. On the other hand, if you are not handicapped, you could park where they have asked you to park, and then drop your mother off and pick her up right at the door, which is probably even closer than 10 feet.
