Legal Question in Banking Law in Illinois
My situation is, I received a check from a friend. The check was generated through their checking
account, as a bill payment to me, and delivered by mail. I endorsed the check, added my account number, and statement For Deposit Only. The endorsed check was mailed to a prepaid VisaCard
Company in Illinois for deposit which they received 9 Nov 09. I contacted the Card company on 19 Nov 09 for a status, and was told funds wouldnt be deposited until they could contact my friend. I gave them my friends phone numbers and E-mail address. At this point, 23Nov 09, my account still hasnt been credited. Is this lawful/legitimate banking practice? Yes, the check is funded.
Thank You,

Most likely this is a contractual question and you should review the fine print of anything pertaining to your prepaid visa account.
