Legal Question in Banking Law in Illinois
Stolen fraudlent check
I had a check stolen from my checkbook in a locked hotel room, forged and deposited in an active account in another state for $1,000.00 and my bank is not reimbursing the money, do I have any legal recourse? or can I take this to a small claims court?

Re: Stolen fraudlent check
If the signature was forged, the bank wrongfully charged your account. You have the legal right to have the bank credit your account. Because of the amount, you can file in small claims court.
