Can filing a chapter 7 bankruptcy halt a 5 day notice

If by 5 day notice, you mean a 5 day notice to quit the premises, it will stop the landlord from taking further action until they obtain a lift of the stay. But they will be able to manage that within a week or two of finding out you filed bankruptcy and proceed with eviction proceedings.
