The main "exemptions" in Illinois, are $7500. homestead, $1200 for an automobile, $2000 for personal property, IRA & 401 k pensions ect, most bankruptcy lawyers offer free consultations, like myself, so you can learn whether you have other concerns in filing bankruptcy or how to protect yourself, and maximize your exemptions.
