Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Illinois
Cash refund due to damaged goods before bankruptcy
Purchased furniture goods from chain store. Goods delivered in damaged condition. Existing store policy allowed to receive full money back. When the store was contacted about a refund, they said they just declared bankruptcy and only store credit would be issued. There was no mention of these terms at time of sale. Is this legal? Is there a federal law quarantee of a 3 day right of recession or anything that can be used to pursuade them to comply other than a complaint to the Attorney General?

You are very lucky to have been offered a store credit. I would advise that you take same, and get replacement furniture.
