Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Illinois
Chapter 7 Bankruptcy
When I get the Banruptcy kit for
chapter 7 will it include everything
I need to file? Will I need a lawyer
to file? Will I have to do anything
else before or after I file? How long
will it take for the process take start to finish? Thanks.

Re: Chapter 7 Bankruptcy
I am not familiar with a bankruptcy kit.
There are about 60 pages of documents that need to be prepared for a normal chapter 7 case. There are deadlines and specific requirements and documents that have to be submitted to the trustee in your case. It is always recommended to hire a lawyer to help you with the process. The attorney can help you take the right steps to re-establish credit afterwards too.

Re: Chapter 7 Bankruptcy
I can see that you are attempting to save money. However, since the modifications that took place in October 2005 to the bankruptcy statutes, I doubt that you have the technical expertise to meet all the technical requirements/deadlines etc. Good Luck! Money spent on a lawyer might be a good investment. Just my thoughts.
